Winning Portfolio

Dustin Snipes

Strengths

Color, Composition, Good involvement, creative, in the middle of action

Winner process

See if there are any bad pictures, look if there are any blanks in the middle, see if the stories are the same, look at all the strong pictures, see if there is diversity

Individual photos

Agree

The girl running through the hurdle. I like it because you wont really get a chance to see that happening. It looks like the photographer was on the track.

Disagree
The kids about to fight with the blue and red mats. I dont think it should be off centered because havin it centered makes it balanced

Gordon Parks

I read for 25min.
Bad Morning
I like this poem because it describes how i feel every morning when i wake up, cant find clothes that match or socks that match and not bein able to find my shoes and trying to make it to the bus on time. It just makes me have a Bad Morning.

This is a Formal Portrait. It has hard lighting by shining light on the left side of her body only. Having her look straght at the camera gave the right side of her face have a shadow to where you cant see the detail. You can see the detail on her body just not on her face, so they shined the light directly on the left side of her face.

FAVORiTE

This ESPN the Magazine cover portrays Michael Jordan jumping against an all-white background in his Chicago Bulls uniform. Two weeks after winning his sixth title with the Bulls, the corresponding article speculates whether or not Jordan will retire from basketball. Jordan retired on January 13, 1999, but two years later signed a deal to play for the Washington Wizards. On April 16, 2003, Jordan played his last game and announced his final retirement.

i LiKE THiS MAGAZiNE COVER BECAUSE iT LOOKS LiKE HE iS JUMPiNG iNTO THE TiTLE.i LiKE HOW THEY MADE THE WHOLE COVER MATCH HiM iNSTEAD OF PUTTiNG HIM JUST ON ANY KiND OF BACKGROUND AND MAKiNG THE TiTLE ANY COLOR.i THiNK THEY SHOULD OF PUT SOME KiND OF TEXT AROUND HiM SO iT WASNT JUST A PLAiN WHiTE BACKGROUND WiTH NOTHiNG ON iT.

Cover History

Early Magazine Covers
They are different from the ones today because a lot of them look like books and other dont have pictures at all they just have a table of contents and a title.
Poster Covers
They just have one main picture that takes up the whole front page and then they have the title somewhere at the top. They dont have a lot of sub-titles on the cover it's usually just the main title and the picture.
Pictures Married to Type
They have a main picture they usually runs into the main title and they have cover titles they flow with the picture.
In the Forest of Words
These magazine covers have smaller pictues to make room for the cover titles and there are a lot more cover titles
